Microdermabrasion

Over the years, our skin is exposed to daily environmental elements, such as pollution, the sun, allergens, and toxins.  Microdermabrasion treatments can help reduce or eliminate age spots, light acne scars, wrinkles and fine lines, “crow’s feet,”  and uneven pigmentation.

What Is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-invasive procedure that uses a spray of tiny crystals or a diamond tip applicator to remove the outermost layer of dry, dead skin cells and reveal radiant, healthier-looking skin. Microdermabrasion also stimulates the growth of a new underlying layer of skin cells and encourages production of collagen and elastin, which further improves your skin’s appearance.

What conditions can be treated?
Patients with fine lines or wrinkles, sun damage, skin texture problems, age spots, uneven pigmentation, clogged pores, or minor scars are good candidates for microdermabrasion. Patients with rosacea or acne may also benefit from microdermabrasion treatments. Scars and stretch marks can also be softened and improved in appearance.

Microdermabrasion is ideal for:
* People who do not have the down time for healing from chemical peels or lasers.
* Active patients who do not want to take time off from outdoor or social activities such as tennis, gold, or skiing are excellent candidates.
* Patients with sensitive skin that cannot tolerate more invasive treatments
* Patients with minor skin imperfections wanting smoother, softer, and more radiant skin

What areas can be treated?
The most common area of treatment is the face. However, other areas of treatment include the neck, chest, back, arms, and legs.

How long do treatments take?
Microdermabrasion sessions typically last between 10 to 30 minutes. They can be combined with other treatments in a comprehensive facial.

Can I go out into the sun after having microdermabrasion?
Sun exposure is never recommended! Sunscreen must be worn after the peel as your skin will likely be a little more sensitive to sun exposure. Waterproof SPF is necessary if you are going to be outdoors. For optimal protection, add a SunPro hat.

How many microdermabrasions should I have and how often is it recommended?
Most clients do several microdermabrasions 2-4 weeks apart and then maintain by having a microdermabrasion performed every four to eight weeks to provide optimal results.
